Aarau is the capital city of the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. It is in the valley of Aar, located on the right bank of the river Aare, at the southern foot of the Jura mountains. And especially lies at the centre of the big city triangle of Zurich, Lucerne and Basel. Aarau was founded about 1240 by the counts of Kyburg. It has long history, so there are many beautiful painter eaves.

The old town of Aarau is very famous in Switzerland. It is listed as heritage sites of national significance. The many painted eaves, the so-called "Dachhimmel" which predominantly date from the 16th century when the town underwent considerable extension, are a special feature of the old town of Aarau. Most of the old town’s buildings were built during the 16th century, when nearly all the Middle Age buildings were replaced or expanded. The Schlossli is a small castle, it is the oldest building in the old town. It was built at the city establishment time shortly after1200.
The Aargau Art Museum featuring an extension designed by the famous architects Herzog & de Meuron offers architecture and art exhibitions setting high standards.

Aquarena Bad Schinznach : thermal bathing in three pools covering an area of 600 square meters at a temperature of 35°C - the benefits of the spa were first enjoyed by bathers in 1658.
Events
Rueblimart is the most popular event in Aarau. It is hold on the first Wednesday in November in the Graben at the edge of the old town. It is the carrot fair, the carrot in all its shapes and guises.
Bachfischet is a public festival which held in September. The festival celebrating the return of the water after the bed has been cleaned.
Shopping
There is a vegetable market in the Graben at the edge of the old town, it is held on every Saturday morning, provide the regional products. And in the last week of September, the market of Aarau Tradesmen is held in the same place.
