Olten is in the canton of Solothum, Switzerland. Olten lies between Solothurn and Aarau at the southern foot of the Jura on the river Aare, at the junction of the north-south Basel-Chiasso and east-west Geneva-St.Gallen railway lines. The central location of Olten in the heart of Switzerland and will remain one of the most important advantages for the region of Olten.

Olten has many hotels and restaurants with a sought-after infrastructure for meeting. Walking trails and bicycle tours in a surprisingly untouched natural environment with light broadleaf forests lead towards the Jura and along the course of the river Aare. Olten is also the home to a wooden foot bridge.

Olten is first mentioned in 1201, it became important in the 13th century since its bridge over the river Aar. In August every year, a large firework show occurs from boats floating down the river. Summer Onset Celebration in Oensingen which is  celebration featuring Switzerland’s largest firework display: intend to drive away the winter . It is held in March every three years.
