Solothurn is in the canton of Solothum in Switzerland, it is lies in  the north-west of Switzerland, on the bank of the river Aare and located at the foot of the Weissenstein Jura mountains. Solothurn is also known as St. Ursen City, Wengi City, the City of Ambassadors, Switzerland's most beautiful baroque city, and the city of culture. It was the residence of the French king’s ambassador from 16th to the 18th centuries.

Solothurn has a range of cultural attraction. The clock tower is the oldest structure in Solothurn, it was built in the first half of the 20th century, construction of the clock storey in 1467 and installation of the astronomic clockworks with the famous astronomy clock dial in 1545. The Landhaus was the landing site for wine shipments in earlier times, it located on the river Aare. The old town of Solothurn is one of the finest and most compact old towns in Switzerland, with many baroque highlights.
