The Limmat is one of the most durable of the cost-conscious
hotels of downtown Zurich. The hotel occupies part of
a four-story building erected in 1935 in the Bauhaus style
as a convention center, and whose boxy-looking facade
is today protected as a historic monument. After the renovation
of the lobby, entrance, bar, restaurant club, and former
Congress Centre, the Limmat Xtra has changed into a stylish
multi-functional house which is very famous with young
people in Zurich, as well as artists and musicians. The
Limmat is one of the largest organizers of rock-and-roll
concerts in Switzerland, often staging their acts in the
cavernous restaurant and night club that occupies the
ground floor. Hotel is located in the heart of Zurich,
only 7 min. on foot to the main station and the famous
"Bahnhofstrasse", 10 km to the nearest fair
site (zurich messe), and 15 min. by car to the airport
